Unique property in southern Corfu
This property consists of three buildings in an area slightly larger than 3, 000 sq.m. in a rural village about 15 km., south of the city of Corfu. Building 1 is the main house, set in a garden with many trees. It has five rooms on two floors, a large kitchen, a bathroom, two showers, toilets and three fireplaces. Building 2 includes, on the ground floor, a traditional stone press, a room with a fireplace, a kitchen, a shower room a toilet, and a wardrobe. On the first floor, a very large room with many windows overlooking a valley. Both buildings overlook the surrounding hills. The two buildings are currently in use but need maintenance. Building 3 consists of two independent rooms or studios with a high ceiling, each with a loft, a kitchen area, a shower room and a toilet and a fireplace. It requires some work to become habitable but already has electrical wiring and plumbing, most doors and windows are ready but not assembled, while bathroom fittings are purchased but not installed. Buildings retain all the traditional structural features. All three roofs have been rebuilt with Byzantine-type tiles and the three buildings are very bright.
What makes the property unique, apart from its beauty, is its historical character. First, it belonged to a baronet, a member of the nobles who ruled Corfu as a Venetian occupation and remained influential until the early 20th century. The property has direct access to the church of the village. Second, the upper floor of building 2 served as the town hall of the area (where the villagers voted for the first time). Third, since the 1990s, current owners have used the property to organize international and local artistic, literary, and cultural activities. There are several supermarkets, bakeries, and cafes in a nearby village ( at a distance of 3 km) which also has a nice, organized beach.
